At Nunatak one of the many choices you can influence is the fabric
used for your sleeping bags or jacket. Our modern arsenal of fabrics
for down shells far outperforms previous generations ability to
breathe and repel water.
We have a number of different materials and colors in stock at all
times. These all have varying properties and weights, and will have
different applications.
The unique fabrics that we offer
are designed specifically to contain and protect goose down from
the elements. They are breathable to permit body vapor to escape
and have durable water-resistant treatments.
Please note that we do not re-sell
our materials by the yard. Here is information on care
of our gear. Please feel free to email or give us a call if
you want to learn more about what we build or how to care for it. |

The new .8 Pertex Quantum is a fantastically light and strong
fabric, featuring a 20% mass reduction over our trail proven
Quantum 1.0. Despite it's thin stature and low weight, this
new contender for the lightest possible yarn is still hardcore
outdoor worthy. A notably lighter hand, smaller packed size
and slight increase in vapor transfer in an already highly
breathable material pushes this fabric to the top of the field.
Same DWR+ treatment as featured with all of our mountain class
Pertex fabrics.
Time will tell if this is the best Pertex fabric yet, as the
1.0 Quantum is well regarded and very stout for the weight.
We still recommend the 1.0 for most gear we build, but those
shaving grams will find the new .8 a significant step up in
performance. With less mass, the loft and thus warmth is greater
for a given garment or down quilt versus the 1.0 shell.
PLEASE note that black is out of stock until spring 2012.

for down gear requiring the utmost breathability and lightest

Our silky smooth 20 D nylon taffeta is built especially for
the lining side of our ultralight down gear. This is the perfect
liner for both a down expedition parka or an ultra light summer
down quilt. This new taffeta is 30% lighter than previous
generations of material and boasts a superior DWR finish.
A demanding role for a shell material, this strong nylon remains
nicely breathable with a fine weave and a soft hand. At 1
ounce per square yard it is durable enough for the long haul,
yet light enough for top level performance. We stock this
in black only. |
